THE LIFE DIRECTION LAB

Group coaching for young professionals

You did everything you were “supposed” to do—got the degree, landed the job, ticked all the boxes—but something still feels off. Maybe it’s that Sunday-night dread creeping in again. The nagging sense that you’re on someone else’s path. Or the quiet voice asking, “Is this really it?”

If you’re feeling stuck, restless, or lost in your twenties or thirties, you’re not alone—and you’re not broken. In fact, these feelings are powerful signals that it’s time for change. And you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

That’s where the Life Direction Lab comes in. It’s a supportive, structured small-group program designed to help you work out what that change looks like—and how to make it real. In a group of just five people, you’ll move from feeling stuck to knowing exactly what to do next.

The Life Direction Lab

  • You feel successful on paper, but something still feels missing – You've ticked all the boxes society promised would bring fulfilment, yet that emptiness lingers.

  • You feel pressured to follow a prescribed path, even though you're not happy – External expectations are leading you away from what truly aligns with who you are.

Meet Your Group Coach

David O'Hara

I’m David O’Hara - I’m a counsellor, group facilitator, and someone who’s lived through the very questions you’re facing now.

After graduation, I did what seemed sensible—I chased the money in jobs that looked great on paper but left me feeling empty inside. I jumped between roles, from lucrative but soul-crushing contract work to marketing tech start-ups.

From the outside, it looked like I was doing well. But inside, I was anxious, depressed, and completely disconnected from any real sense of purpose. I tried everything I could think of to fix it—better sleep, exercise, self-help books, therapy—but nothing seemed to make a difference. The turning point came when I stopped trying to fix myself and started asking:
What if I’m not broken? What if I’m just on the wrong path?

Looking back, I see how often I let fear or other people’s expectations guide my decisions. I chose what was safe or “sensible”, rather than what I knew I wanted deep down. I lost years that way. And I wish I’d had someone to walk beside me through that uncertainty—someone who could help me figure out what truly mattered and remind me I wasn’t alone.

That’s why I created the Life Direction Lab: to be the guide I wish I’d had.

My approach is…

Relatable - I've walked this path myself and know firsthand what it feels like to be stuck and uncertain.

Focused on self-discovery - You know yourself best. I'm here to act as your guide as you gain insight and consider new perspectives.

Research-driven - I blend different science-backed approaches so you know that you're getting effective, well-rounded support.

Nonjudgmental - My approach is rooted in acceptance, so you can feel safe exploring who you are and what you want.

Practical - I make the process as approachable as possible by breaking down concepts in a realistic way and prioritizing real-world applications.

Empowering - I respect each person's agency. As the expert in your own life, only you decide what's best for you.

Frequently asked questions

  • Unlike traditional therapy or one-to-one coaching, the Life Direction Lab harnesses the power of a carefully curated peer group. This approach provides the collective wisdom of others on similar journeys while maintaining the structure and guidance of professional coaching.

  • We meet once a week for 6 consecutive weeks. Each session is 2 hours long, giving everyone dedicated time to share and explore the weekly theme.

  • Yes, confidentiality is a really important element of building trust in the group. In the first session we will all agree how we want to work together.

  • The programme is specifically designed for young adults aged 25-35 who are questioning their path, feeling stuck in their careers, or searching for more meaning and purpose in their lives.

  • Absolutely. The quarter-life crisis often involves questioning three key areas: your career, your location, and your relationships. Many participants use the Life Direction Lab to explore new directions in any (or all) of these areas, test potential paths before committing, and gain clarity on what truly matters to them.

  • Yes, the Life Direction Lab is fully online, making it accessible no matter where you're located.

  • Not at all. There's no pressure to share personal things before you're ready. You can participate at your own comfort level and share only what feels right for you.

  • While this isn't therapy, personal exploration can sometimes bring up difficult emotions. If this happens, you'll be in a supportive space with others who understand, and you can always go at your own pace.

  • That's perfectly fine - exploration is all part of the process. The quarter-life crisis often involves questioning your career, but it can also be about your location, relationships, or general life direction. We'll help you explore whatever feels most relevant.

  • That's exactly why I offer a free 15-minute consultation. It's a no-pressure way to ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and decide if we're a good fit. There's no obligation to continue.
